My Priorities:

N

Investing Strategically in Infrastructure

Chatham-Kent faces an infrastructure challenge. The municipality is large, population density is low, and infrastructure is aging. As the needs of our community change, so should our infrastructure. We need to prioritize projects to avoid infrastructure failure or costly degradation. Infrastructure needs to be maintained and replaced effectively with long-term community goals in mind.

N

Promoting an Inclusive, Diverse Community

In order to build a sustainable, resilient community we need to attract and retain new residents and economic opportunities. Individuals and companies looking to invest in our community should see a municipality reflective of the inclusivity and diversity that defines Canada. Everyone, regardless of age, race, religion, culture, gender identity, or sexual orientation should feel welcome in our community.

N

Empowering Local Initiatives

Local government should facilitate local initiatives. One of the greatest strengths of Chatham-Kent is our community’s ability to organize in support of each other. The role of municipal government in local initiatives is to facilitate, partner, and promote. We need to work together and listen to local partners to move our community forward.

N

Ensuring Long-Term Community Viability

Every decision made at the municipal level needs to take into account our community’s future. Whether it is infrastructure investment, renewal of recreational facilities, or resident attraction and retention programs, the decisions made today need to be made to benefit us tomorrow.
N

Building Healthier, Active Communities

Healthy living requires a healthy community. We need to continue to build and maintain spaces that promote active communities. Investment in recreational facilities, active transport, and green spaces is important to both promote a healthy community and attract and retain residents of all ages.

N

Prioritizing Transparency, Honesty, and Accountability

Residents of Chatham-Kent deserve representation that communicates honestly, openly, and with integrity. Navigating municipal decision making can be complex. Real leadership means respecting residents by communicating challenges, opportunities, and realities of community issues.
